Rohit Manjrekar completes first schedule of Hindi 3D feature film.
There has been a lot of buzz about 3D movies in the recent past, especially after the release of Avatar. The pleasure and experience of viewing a film in 3D is as good as or sometimes better than being there. The reason for this is that we as humans regularly watch our world in 3D and because of limitations of technology have been seeing movies and pictures in flat 2D vision with just two dimensions of width and height. 3D adds the 3rd and most important dimension to movies now, the dimension of depth.
While a lot of producers from the Indian film industry are planning and thinking about producing feature films in 3D, Unit 1 Production & Media Inc. an Indo Canadian production house had already started shooting what is probably India’s first Movie to begin shoot in 3D with the polarized viewing technology on 12th May in Canada with its set of Canadian cast. The Unit and its Director Rohit Manjrekar are now in Mumbai with further schedules planned in India from the 3rd week of July.
Rohit has been living in Canada for the past 13 years and frequents India to direct commercials and large size corporate videos, he has also directed some exclusive multi camera television events in India, like the Asha Bhosle concert.
The production process to make a good 3D movie is extremely time taking and cumbersome and requires camera equipment and technicians of the highest level which are a part of Unit 1 Productions in house 3D team from shoot to post production.
feels that 3D should entertain rather than scare people away as it is immersive visual technology. In order to engage the audience in the 3D visual world he has chosen a subject that is young, musical, thrilling and humorous rather than horror. He believes that most 3D features that have been successful from an Avatar to a Shrek are films that entertain and involve the audience rather than scare people with a house of horror kind of feel for 2 hours or more.
The film has been scripted by Sunil Salgia, a veteran writer & director of the Indian film & Television industry. This 3D venture is being shot in Canada and India and the title has not been finalized yet.
It is possible to view part of the rushes in 3D at Unit 1 Studio in Mumbai by scheduling an appointment.

Hindi 3D Film shot in Canada. Unit to continue shoot in Mumbai
India has been noticing a lot of hoo haa on the 3D film making business for the last so many days, the big question here is will someone in India really be able to make a full fledged artist enacted 3D film? And that too with an out and out Indian technical support….The answer probably would be “may be-may not be”
Now let me come to the point and say that yes it is possible right here right now in India, I am proud to say that my company Unit 1 Productions is the production house which has made this possible, I share with you all some statements by the company’s head himself
Head Of Unit 1 Productions Rohit Manjrekar says “why go abroad for technical help when the expertise is available in India itself? We have all the necessary equipment and the rigs available with us for 3D shooting and more so over, we are ready with our first venture, shooting of which begun a month back in Canada with the Canadian cast, we are finalizing the Indian cast for the same, and the shoot in India will continue from second week of July, shots (rushes) of which are ready for viewing and the best part is that its shot by an Indian, edited by an Indian and can be viewed in Mumbai with the help of the 3D polarized glasses, the genre of the film is Fun Thriller and not a predicted Horror, Anybody who wants to have the experience of the same is more than welcome to come to our office in lokhandwala with a prior appointment and have a look at it”
He further adds that “the cost of production rises up the moment you think of calling the technical people from abroad and that is what we are aiming at, to keep the costs affordable and with in approach, and since we had all the equipment with us, we thought why not we proceed with our first production, not that we are not wanting to share this facility with our other fellow directors and producers who wish to make productions with this technology, we are more than open to associate with them”
So friends I can proudly say that be ready for a Great Indian 3D Revolution in the days to come and do not forget that you read about it here on my page first ;-))
Promising you a pleasurable 3D experience in days to come
